Question carefully. Live honestly.
Apostasy 101 offers practical, compassionate reflections for people questioning faith or rebuilding their lives after leaving religion. Across eleven parts, it considers family disclosure, identity, meaning, loneliness, critical thinking, relationships, coexistence and the important reminder that apostasy need not become the centre of a person’s entire life.
Written from a secular Malay perspective in Singapore, the series recognises that religion can be closely tied to family, culture and belonging. It does not tell readers what to believe or assume that questioning, leaving, or publicly discussing religion follows the same path for everyone. Instead, it offers questions and considerations that may help readers move carefully, preserve what relationships they can and build lives grounded in honesty and dignity.
Friends and family members may also find the series useful when trying to understand what a questioning or former Muslim may be experiencing. All eleven entries are available in English and Bahasa Melayu.
